THE LATEST: Orange Beach, Alabama Summer of 2008
Please make a note that we had to change the dates due to some booking problems with the meeting rooms. If this is going to cause a major issue for some, we will have to start over at square one for other reunion options. This place is already booking up. Here are the details:
THE DATES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO JUNE 23-26, 2008.
Rates per room 1 bedroom - 3 nights - $511.71
2 bedroom - 3 nights - $682.65
3 bedroom - 3 nights - $818.07
Condo info: the one bedroom condo has one bathroom and sleeps 4 bodies (sofa sleeper)
the two bedroom condo has two bathrooms and sleeps 6 bodies
the three bedroom condo has two bathrooms and sleeps 8 bodies
I know there are several of you that would like to add more people to the condo to cut costs, however, we have to be careful. You could maybe get away with a couple of extra people, but let's don't go overboard.
All one-bedroom condos have a king bed. In the two bedroom condos there is one king and then there could be two twins or one queen. In the three bedroom condos there is one king bed and there could be two twins, two double or one queen bed in the other two bedrooms. You will need to be specific when you reserve your condo regarding the beds you would like to request. Again, as we reserve these, requests will come on a first come first serve basis.

Condo info: One, two or three-bedroom condo
Deposit: You will need to give one night's deposit.
One bedroom - $211.35
Two bedroom - $267.83
Three bedroom - $330.54
These rates include the housekeeping, telephone access, tax, and car passes.

Please inform your family that the sooner we book these condos the better chances we have of being together. I have requested floors 5-7 with a couple of ground level rooms for those who will need it. You can begin reserving as early as today. Please let me know if there are problems or concerns that need to be addressed. It is very difficult for a group this large to be accommodated this nicely for this price. There are lots of fun ideas going around to make this a great reunion. As you are making your plans, we are also going to try and do a day at Darbun kind of thing. It will be on Sunday before the reunion. We are trying to make arrangements for church at the old Darbun church and maybe creek time. If you are interested, people will be making arrangements to stay overnight at motels in Hattiesburg on Sunday evening before driving over to Orange Beach. It would be nice for me to know how many are interested in this extra side trip.

I want to thank Doug Cahoon for all his hard work on this blogspot. This will make communication for the reunion so much easier if we will all use it to keep in touch. As we begin the planning of this reunion, I am excited to be able to see everyone again. We tried waiting three years this time and I know alot has happened with alot of families and it will be good to see everyone again. Our families are the real strength that keeps us going with the way our world is and we have a family that gives tremendous support when it is needed. So please keep in touch through this blogspot and we can have a great reunion. More info and requests for information will be coming as soon we get everyone using this spot. Hey Everybody!! I'm on here. This is awesome!! I love this kind of technology. What a great way to have everything on one site. I just wish there was a spell check for these blogs. I'm too used to chatting on Yahoo messenger with my kids and we don't care if we have typos galore. Well, anyway, thanks to you who have been staying on top of things to keep this amazing family together. I really value your efforts. I'll bookmark this site so I can check it often. Do you want email addresses put on here? My Dad had a really great party for his 80th. It was spectacular to have all of the siblings there as well. He couldn't have been more surprised when they all walked in the door together singing Happy Birthday and gave him his second big surprise. I was afraid for his health for a minute there cuz he was so overwhelmed. Thanks to all my aunts and uncles for going to Houston to support our efforts to honor Arvil Cochran Jr. I'll remember it forever. I love you all and I am so honored to be part of this amazing family......SWAK ______ (Oh yah, I just realized that there IS a spell check built into this blogger! AWESOME!!!!!
